What Are Secondary Antibodies Campaign
Client: Jackson ImmunoResearch
Skills used: Animation, Motion Graphic Design, Video Editing, Sound Design, Audio Editing, Illustration, Graphic Design
The goal of the campaign was to provide an overview of what Secondary Antibodies are and how they can benefit scientists, as a way to introduce Jackson ImmunoResearch’s new website and highlight their specialty—secondary antibodies. The centerpiece of the campaign was the animation. I wanted the animation to reflect the care and intentionality that goes into Jackson’s antibodies, as well as some of their humanity, which is why I opted for a handmade aesthetic and detailed, custom assets.
Storyboard
I was given a script from which I produced a storyboard. Sketching out key scenes ahead of time allowed us to work out the overall flow and make big picture decisions about the progression of scenes and the information being shown.
Assets
Once the storyboard was completed, I started building out assets and working out the motion in each scene. My process was to determine how I wanted the assets to move, take basic reference pictures, build out the individual layers in Illustrator, then animate them in After Effects. For some assets, like the Western Blot device, and the pipette, it was necessary to build out additional layers in After Effects and animate them frame-by-frame.
